I am stuffed...now where are those tarts?
The menu included bacon, sausage, French Toast, brochettas, chicken satay, quiche and roasted potatoes, pit ham, omelet bar, and tons of desserts.
Having been in this wonderful indsutry for quite a while and having been a part of dozens of events - I have never seen the turnout and support as I have seen at this community. The comments, accolades and overall happiness is unparralled. Way to go Larry!
A big thank you to all of the staff that made this event happen. Given I was out of town...I can't take any credit for another great turnout :)
Looking forward to our next event - Valentines Day Dinner with the Rat Pack!
Cheers ~
Brian

Welcome to our blog!
Now...what do we talk about...
Resident stories...staffing...the weather...events...Dementia...Medicare Pt D...how bad the Sonics are? I don't know. I guess this is where our staff, residents and families come into play. I invite anyone that reads this to help direct and steer this vehicle of comunication.
- Do you want to hear stories and share photos of a day in the life at Aegis of Redmond?
- Can we get residents to provide "life stories" as human interest pieces?
- Would you like to know more about senior health, aging, dementia, care giving, support groups, good doctors, bad doctors, activities...
For now I will tell you a couple of stories. We lost a great friend and hero this week. Doug Brigden, AKA, The Colonel - lost his well fought and lengthy battle with cancer. For those of us that were lucky to not only know Colonel but to see him this past summer; our lives are better for it. Anytime that I step foot onto the patio I will always fondly picture Doug sitting there with his Pearl cowboy hat, a beer, Maggie at his feet...watching the girls go by on the Burke Gilman Trail. Quick with his wit and even quicker to flirt - we loved the Colonel for all he had to offer life while asking nothing in return except friendship. Thank you for letting us be your friend, Doug. We miss you terribly already.
I often get questions or comments from the residents talking about aging and how the golden years ain't so golden. Here is a great chance to learn and talk about the subject. I will begin a class this Thursday at 10:00 am called Body & Being; how we age. This will cover topics ranging from the 5 senses, intimacy, exercise and how the body changes in general as we age. I hope that the residents find this literature and information as intriguing as I have. Families are welcome to participate and join in.
This site still has a lot of work to do - but today, it is a start. Stay tuned for photos, stories and entries from all sorts of people.
Until next time, thank you for your interest,
Brian
